Alternative Hamper for Children at Claire House
A hamper filled with toys, teddies and treats has been handed to the team at Claire HouseChildren’s Hospice, in preparation for an alternative Easter.
Generous retailers at St Johns Shopping Centre, in Liverpool, donated vouchers, art sets and a giant dinosaur to its charity of the year on Thursday.
Dan Halliday, from Claire House said: “I have done hundreds of miles over the last few days collecting generous donations for Easter from our supporters - many of which were chocolate eggs which we used in our Easter Hunt this week.
“But many of our kids unfortunately can’t eat chocolate so hampers like the one donated by St Johns Shopping Centre means that they can receive an alternative Easter present.”
Claire House Children's Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality for their families.
Loretta Forrester, retail liaison manager at St Johns Shopping Centre, said: “I was really overwhelmed with the feedback from our retailers and their donations - it really does show their support for families who are facing a different type of Easter to the rest of us.
“We hope our shoppers can also show their support for the charity with bucket donations which will be taking place throughout the Bank Holiday weekend by the food court at the centre.”
In a bid to raise as much money as possible for the children’s hospice, St Johns Shopping Centre will be taking part in One Great Day - a UK-wide charity event which also supports Great Ormond Street Hospital.
St Johns is urging community groups, dance troops or choirs to step forward to participate in One Great Day to help bring the centre alive with activity.
