Community

St Johns shopping centre is proud to be part of the local community and committed to working in socially responsible activities designed to benefit groups and individuals.  We also support the community in a number of other ways, including helping charitable causes by providing fund-raising opportunities, working with universities, schools, media partners and local businesses on a range of community projects within Liverpool.

St Johns Sponsors University Marketing Challenge

St Johns sponsored an Apprentice style competition to find the brightest marketing undergraduates in February 2008.  Four local universities, including Liverpool, John Moores, Hope and Chester Universities, joined together with Business Bridge to compete in an elimination game to find the best marketing students with prizes and certificates for the last nine contestants.  On the judging panel were representatives from Liverpool Echo, Heathcotes at Anfield, Radio City 96.7 and The Business Improvement District.  The winners, Liam McKee and Rachelle McEvoy, LJMU, won £500 and four weeks marketing experience with a week at St Johns, Radio City, City Council BID and Liverpool Football Club.

Prince of Wales Arts and Kids Initiative

This year St Johns have partnered Clare Mount School, a special school for 11 – 16 years olds, based on the Wirral.

The Unity Theatre held two workshops in the school covering drama, costume design, prop and background design on 6th and 9th November 2008.  The school watched a performance of Pinocchio at the Unity Theatre in December 2007 and in February performed their own version of the play.

In March St Johns arranged for the school to visit Radio City at the top of St Johns Beacon where they met their favourite DJ’s and had lunch.
